Study Title: Genetic Studies of the Heart and Circulation
Approved by the NHS Research Ethics Committee: (Ref: 09/H0707/69)
Purpose of our research:
The main purpose of the study is to develop an atlas of the human heart and to use this to look at the effects of differences in peoples DNA and genes on heart shape and function. The aim is to produce clearer images of the heart that, combined with genetic data, will be of benefit in diagnosing and treating diseases. To develop these techniques we need to scan and take blood from healthy volunteers first, which will then be compared with data from patients with heart, circulatory and inflammatory diseases.
